By all reasoned accounts, 9-year old Larry Larimore is a hero for stopping a would-be thief from stealing his dad’s pickup truck on Christmas Day, by pulling out a pellet gun and confronting the thief as he opened the trucks door.

“As soon as he opened the door, I got scared,” Larimore told WTHR. “So I pulled out the pellet gun and pointed it at his head.”

The suspect looking down the muzzle of what appeared to be a real pistol took off and hopped inside a Chevy Trailblazer parked nearby, and sped off.

However if this incident had taken place in a progressive state like New Jersey, New York or perhaps Connecticut, rather then in a gun friendly state like Kokomo, Indiana, this 9-year old boy would most likely be sitting in a juvenile court and his parents cited and perhaps even arrested for having a “pellet gun” in their possession, that’s how screwed up we’ve become as a society.

Thankfully, however, this incident took place in the heartland where common sense still prevails, and where law-abiding citizens like 9-year old Larimore can defend himself.

The incident began when Larimore’s dad Kevin Cooksey stopped at a One Stop store to get a bottle of ibuprofen for his wife, along with another motorist named Kyle Sparling looking to buy a bag of Doritos, both individuals were strangers to each other, however all that quickly changed within moments when the two motorists realized that their vehicles were in the process of being stolen.

“When I saw my truck door open, I was like, ‘oh my God, what am I going to tell my wife?’” said Cooksey. Because his 9-year old son was in the truck, worst yet, with the engine running.

“I was thinking, I hope my son knew what to do in that situation,” said Cooksey, and apparently young Larimore knew exactly what to do.

Unable to steal the pickup truck the would-be carjacker hopped into the Chevy Trailblazer, attempting to escape, however he was quickly apprehended after a minor accident just down the road from the One Stop store, he was charged with attempted auto theft, unlawful entry of a vehicle, vehicle theft, theft and operator never licensed.

Do you believe we need a universal gun law, that protects and empowers law-abiding citizens to protect themselves with handguns?
